What is IELTS?

What is IELTS?

IELTS is a kind of examination system of UK, known as International English Language Testing System. IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL) to evaluate students ability in study, training or immigration. Currently, IELTS is well recognized Australia, New Zealand, UK and Canada and well accepted by most tertiary education institutions and organizations. In USA, more and more universities and colleges adapt IELTS as the language evaluation standard.

IELTS consists of listening, reading, writing and speaking. Among the four, it takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to finish listening, reading, and writing. It takes 15 minutes to do oral English. The full mark is 9. The IELTS requirement in universities and colleges is set from 5 to 7.5 score, which is determined by students academic destinations in universities and subjects.
